I've never really understood the "spirit animal" concept but mine is now the Black Rain Frog.

Another fascinating story about a unique New York neighborhood. As a history buff, I revel in origin stories. In our present time, I am always amazed at the urban and suburban landscape, specifically how many ugly electrical lines crowd our field of view in most neighborhoods Our eyes and brains tend to ignore them, but they always stand out in photographs, almost as a reminder that we ought to design our streets a little better.

It's interesting you mention that neighborhood was historically referenced as "Frog's Neck" at one point. We'd cross the Throg's Neck Bridge often to get to my grandmother's house in Queens. And because I was a small child, and the name Throg's likely seemed too abstract for me, I always called it "Frog's Neck". I am still confused as to why the bridge has one G, while the neighborhood has two...
