A reader, Mark M, pointed out that Mill Basin’s “premier wedding and event venue,” El Caribe, is owned by Michael Cohen’s uncle, Morton Levine. Cohen, the former Trump fixer, even held a stake in the venue which he divested himself of when Trump was elected.
In the 80s and 90s, El Caribe was a known mob meeting spot. A Talking Points Memo podcast uncovered that the bosses of the U.S. arm of the Russian Mafia had their offices in the El Caribe, effectively making it the headquarters of Russian organized crime in the U.S.1
