I guess it depends on what your imagining. I think someone with your curiosity and ability to ferret out compelling stories from seemingly nowhere would find plenty of interest out there. At the very least you can take a nice walk on the beach!
That's great you made it! You'd be surprised how many one paragraph neighborhood summaries there are on wikipedia. The length of the page is roughly in inverse proportion to its distance from Times Square.
Great stuff! I visited Edgmere last November, only my second ever trip to the Rockaways. Once I was out there, I knew I had to go back. I've done three more long walks in the Rockaways since then. I was originally influenced to make the shlep by this old photography blog:

I went on Saturday. Edgemere AND Far Rockaway. So fun! I saw like three different worlds in two hours. Going back for sure.
It's also very interesting that the Wikipedia page for Edgemere is just one paragraph! I wonder if that is a NYC neighborhood record?
