Okay, I know I said I was taking the rest of August off, but since I didn’t send out the usual Monday bonus newsletter to paid subscribers this week, I decided to share it with everyone.
The bonus edition, which I initially conceived as a way of offering something unique to paying subscribers, features images not included in the regular newsletter and very little text. The irony of essentially encouraging readers to “pay more to get less” is not lost on me.
Still, there is something to be said about being able to scroll through a collection of photos without having to endure my deep dive into Theosophical Quarterly’s 1919 analysis of baking powder label art.
Anyway, a big thanks to all the subscribers who follow this newsletter! Your willingness to spend your time—and, in some cases, money—on my ramblings continues to astound me. Thank you!
And I really do promise I will not send anything out next week. Probably.
Here are some more from Manhattanville.
Manhattanville may be transforming at a dizzying pace, but for nearly one hundred years, you’ve been able to buy a live chicken at the small two-story building on the corner of West 126th St. and Amsterdam.
I’m a little over 6 months into my quest to walk or bike every block on the island of Manhattan in a year, and I walked some of these blocks a couple of nights ago. I chuckled at the pic of the 134th Street dead end — so far, that’s the only block that I’ve “noped.”
Looking at your photos gives me enormous joy
Thank you for the access to the bonus pictures!
